Ms. Karen Cooke returns to St. Landry Parish Schools with over 25 years of experience in education and a profound commitment to student success. Her journey began at Sunset Elementary, and she is thrilled to be back in the district that first launched her career.
She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Special Education as well as a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. Her extensive teaching experience spans grades Pre-K3 through 12 in various instructional settings, including inclusion, resource, self-contained, community-based instruction, and Emotional Behavioral Disorder (EMD) classrooms. She has also taught 4th-grade math and middle school science.
Ms. Cooke's leadership experience includes her role as Site Director of the Prevocational Center at Ellisville State School. Throughout her career, she has worked in four school districts, bringing a broad and diverse perspective to her current role.
